Governments: How Are We Making Risk Informed Decisions

“Ideally, the different institutions that form the National System of Risk Management can keep working together, and pursue our mission of saving lives and protecting people’s goods.”

Ramon Sota

“We set up a platform to convene gov, non gov, private sector, media, UN agencies and donors. We tmeet often to share lessons, and collaborate among multiple backgrounds.”

Anil Pokhrel

With the existing risk we have in our countries today, the increasing construction of infrastructure, and potential negative climate change impacts, countries are making decisions to i) reduce existing risks; ii) take action to avoid the creation of new risks; and iii) respond more efficiently to disasters. However, these decisions are not always based on the best information available. Therefore, we will explore the information decision makers are using vs. the information they should be using, and the data, innovations, and technologies they would like to use to improve their decision-making process.
