Luis Sousa is a Catastrophe Risk Engineer with over 10 years’ experience leading the development and practical implementation of catastrophe risk modelling solutions for (re)insurance risk transfer and disaster risk finance applications. Luis leads the Science & Risk team at Mitiga Solutions, dedicated to the use of science, physics-based models, and high-performing computing to forecast and mitigate the impact of natural hazards and climate change. Before joining Mitiga, Luis led the Resilience Practice in Europe at Verisk, working on wildfire, drought, wind, and earthquake hazards.
