Disasters Program Manager Global Partnerships & Socioeconomic Assessments Coordinator / NASA

Dr. Shanna McClain is the NASA the Disasters Program Manager for NASA’s Earth Sciences / Applied Sciences Division. Shanna and her team work to define NASA’s role in resilience through the development of science-informed policies and programming in fragile and crisis-affected areas. She also manages NASA’s Earth Sciences Global Partnerships portfolio, and the NASA Applied Sciences Socioeconomic Assessments portfolio. She holds a PhD in Environmental Science & Policy.
Since 2009, she has served as a Visiting Scientist to the Environmental Law Institute, leading their programming on climate-related migration and displacement, and in support of programming on environmental security and peace.
